Kerygma Discovering The Bible
What is “Discovering The Bible?”
“Discovering the Bible” is a 15-week series offering a top-down, big-picture view of the New Testament. By reading some carefully chosen excerpts from the Gospels, Acts, Epistles and Revelation, you’ll get a broad sense of the New Testament’s history, meaning and witness to Jesus Christ.
What if I don’t know anything about the Bible?
You don’t need any knowledge of the Bible to participate in this series. In fact, it’s a perfect way to start! This is an incredibly time-effective way to get a real grasp of the Bible, even if you’ve never opened a Bible before - and you’ll deepen your spirituality at the same time!
When and where does it meet?
We’ll meet at St. Michael and All Angels in Corona del Mar on Sunday mornings after the 10:00 am service, from 11:30 a.m.to 1:00 p.m., beginning Sunday, September 9.
What if I can’t attend all 15 sessions? Is there homework?
Come as often as you can! Most people can read the passages from Scripture before each week’s meeting in about an hour. (But there’s no pressure and no exams.)
What is the class format?
The Rev. Michael Seiler, Interim Rector at St. Michael’s, leads the discussion and provides background, but there is plenty of opportunity for conversation, questions, discussion and even some laughs.
What is the cost? How do I get more information or sign up?
There is a $32 fee to cover the cost of the “Discovering the Bible” manual. Contact Michael Seiler ([email protected]) and we’ll enroll you and have a copy of “Discovering the Bible” waiting for you on September 9. Hope to see you there!
